Acknowledgements

The Ensembl project was born on 27th January 2000 with the announcement of Ensembl Milestone 1. Since that time we have received primary funding from the Wellcome Trust through two grants to the EBI and their support of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (formally the Sanger Centre). The project has benefited from specific ongoing project grants and support from several organisations over its life. We acknowledge their significant contributions to the development of Ensembl.
